Thanks also to Scott W. for your information on the Maxtor drive beeps. Mine is doing the same thing...My question for you is, can you be certain of getting it to 'spin' when you open up the box?? I know, I shouldn't open the box, but I have family photos on that stupid drive (which I used exactly once before it self-destructed), and I can't afford $1500 to get the data off...it's not replaceable...
I can't believe Maxtor will not be responsible for getting the data--it is their fault I can't access it!!! How was I to know they have this flaw in their machinery? Does anyone else have a problem with their logic?
Any advice?
