Hey I wonder as the last post suggested with Linux being a faster operating system (taking his word for it as I don't know) I wonder if the cat's collar is on a incompatible frequency when running linux. Why not try taking the collar off and play with it and see exactly what is the sweet spot that causes linux to do this. One you got the sweet spot narrowed down put a big X or Circle the circumference of the area that causes this behavior. Then you just might find something in common between the two.
Who knows you just might have a great issue for the show "unexplained Mysterys"
