I just found this thread as I just started reading posts on TechIMO, and I think this thread is too cool - it's even funnier than the hamster thread on sysopt because its true! [hope its not a faux pas to mention sysopt here]
The real question is - is this related to Linux and the computer or not? Maybe its the Jolt he drinks while he works with Linux, not he Pepsi he drinks when working with Windows. Maybe its a social rather than an electronic thing. What do we do different when we log in to Linux? Wear our caps forwards?? Wear different pants which emit EMR maybe?? Maybe its the fluffy penguin he forgot to tell us about?

?
I think this whole thing is so weird that we have to investigate it more. Maybe someone could apply for a grant to study this phenomenon - surely someone's government has paid out funds for more obscure studies than this? It could have important ramifications for the computing, pet-loving world. And maybe it might have some impact on time delay locks in vaults or something as well
Maybe its just a coincidence - we need a controlled, reproducible study to verify the astute observations of thekemp.
But whatever it is, some of these posts are really funny! Keep up the theorising / philosophising and we may get to the bottom of this yet (before poor thekemp goes completely insane, or worse, gets stuck with Windows only!)
I only wish I had some real clues I could offer here...
