Using my PC Last night, Shut down, went out for about 1 hour then on return it started singing. My raid array was offline and only 1 drive was detected. I have a Gigabyte 8ihxp with 2 x Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 9 160gb + 8mb drives and one of them is singing. I was unable to get it to start spinning but I will try more violence tonight. I was so pleased to find this thread as I have been trawling Mac threads all denying the drives don't make any audible alerts! Thanks! I was only thinking about making a backup last night as well! Duhh!
