I seriously doubt this is EMI dudes. Try seeing if there are any linux drivers for this door. Do a google search on the model or something. It'll probably be there. This IS the internet after all.

Install WINE ( www.winehq.com ) and see if you can install the windows drivers on linux. Or program instead of drivers.

Maybe you should buy a treadmill for the cat and wire it to the door so that everytime you use linux, the cat loses 2 pounds. Worth a shot.
