Its a good OS for many purposes.
SUSe should be as good as any other Linux distro in that respect, but I think it is more geared towards the desktop. The likes of RH and Debian are more geared towards servers, but they still make good desktops. Do you know your way around Linux? If so it may be worth looking at Debian or something, if not then I doubt you can go far wrong with SUSE.
