Okay, I'll say it anyway...the full version will ALWAYS be better than the upgrade version. If you're not ready to jump the 98 ship yet, try dual-boot for a bit. Actually, there are some (mostly older)programs that won't run on XP even with compatibility mode, so a dual-boot is not a bad way to go...

I have tried upgrading to XP from Millenium, and although I didn't have specific errors, I found the same situation (where not all of my installed programs worked). If you revert back to 98SE and uninstall all the programs that are not currently working, and re-install them after doing the upgrade again, you should be alright.
P.S.-would be simpler to do what you said you're not ready for...  |
