SM Bus Controller's driver critically required? PLEASE HELP!

Is SM Bus Controller's driver a critical required driver? If it is, would it cause start up and shut down errors and other errors/malfunctions? I can't obtain the driver because I'm running XP on a Vista/7 machine. What does SM Bus Controller do anyways?

    Name- a6200n
    Made by- HP
OS- windows xp 32-bit ( stock OS, windows vista 64-bit )
    CPU- AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+ socket am2 @ 2.6 GHz
    HDD- 320GB Barracuda 7200.10
    Ram- 2gb
someone please reply ASAP, I've been without a good computer for about a week!

Problem with the Driver for SM Bus Controller (Windows) | HP® Support

might have to find the exact chipset you have, and look for it over at the Nvidia website for the SM Bus Drivers for that chipset for Windows XP.

    Thx for the reply!

I tried that link. But even if i go to ms, HP, nvidia and the mobs manufacture's website. Yet i found the driver for it but is only for windows 7 & vista. Also without the driver will it cause problems?
