    Ubuntu for Dell Inspiron 2600

I recently recieved this laptop with XP Pro SP3

    Inspiron 2600
Service Tag: BNLBK11 | Express Service Code: 25371138853

    Product Support | Dell US

Will Ubuntu run on this old hardware?

If so what is the best way to install it?

Not sure if I should dual boot both OS's or get rid of XP completely.

As stated in your other thread I would suggest Linux Mint (forked version using ubuntu but without all the Amazon BS and crappy Unity interface)

    Main Page - Linux Mint

What will you be using the laptop for? For basic web surfing and document viewing Linux mint should do everything you want it to do and should support most of your hardware. You might need to load drivers for the wireless card depending on what you have.

Best way to install it, download the iso and burn it to a cd-r or make a bootable usb thumb drive

How to create a bootable USB stick on Windows | Ubuntu

With the lack of updates for xp now, I wouldnt suggest using xp ever again if you are gonna be surfing the internet. Worst case you can make a usb thumb drive with Mint installed and give it a try to see if you like it or not so you wont remove the XP OS installed

Precise Puppy created a windows boot manager option to boot either XP or Precise Puppy Linux. Can I use Wubi to add a third option with xubuntu?

Lubuntu and antiX are arguably the best lightweight distros for old laptops and netbooks.
