Installing Windows 9x systems in latest VirtualBox?

    Hey! New to TechIMO.

Just wondering, how would I install a Windows 9x OS in VirtualBox latest version? More specifically, I want to run Windows ME and 98 SE.

I'm aware the OS images are not bootable and you require MS-DOS to boot them, which I succeeded in doing. However for both operating systems, I have received a BSOD upon or during the install.

Coul somebody point me to latest version tutorials or such? I am not asking for any disc images since I already have them.

Just curious: Why on earth would you want to do this?

Welcome to TechIMO! Check the following tutorial:

There are some aspects you can skip, if desired, such as installing KernelEx, extra third-party apps, etc. YMMV on actual performance.

Alternatively, if your host OS is Windows 7 or earlier (back to WinXP), your better bet IMO would be Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 instead of VirtualBox. VPC is designed specifically for running legacy Windows operating systems.
