| Office XP vs. Office 2003
I am interested in Office 2003 recently and I am currently using Office XP. I have some amount of money to spend in Office 2003 Professional Edition, and I was thinking if I should upgrade from XP. What are the advantages? Any new features? I have the Professional Edition of Office XP. Is it worth spending the bucks on it? I can get it for $300 here and I think its a nice price. Will I see better office performance with it? What do you think? Thanks for listening.

You'll waste your money
The only real difference would effect corporations.
Outlook looks different but thats the primary thing you'd notice
Save your money, I don't think Microsoft will be going bankrupt if you dont' buy it |

So its a waste of money for a home user?
Would have to investigate more then before I buy it.
Thanks anyways!

Outlook is the only program I see worthwhile changes in. The ability to turn off the graphic display in HTML e-mail is great -- prevents spammers from knowing that you saw their e-mail.
Otherwise, I don't see much change from Office XP to Office 2003. |

Thats why I think I am upgrading, because of the new Outlook. Of course the other new features th Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc are interesting, but Outlook 2003 is definetely my target.

Outlook updates are NOT worth 300 bucks
I think they're worth 20 bucks IMO
I use yahoo as my mail provider they offer the option of not showing html graphics... .they're good for a spam susceptible mailbox.
I'd suggest getting a yahoo mailbox for online purchases and signups... use your ISP mail for personal/business only (IMO) |

I agree its a steep price for such a upgrade, but its not only Outlook included, although its the main reason I am upgrading. Maybe I should only buy Outlook 2003, it would be cheaper, or is it available to only buy Outlook?

I doubt the prices will be coming down anytime soon.
What miffs me about Office 2k3 is that you don't get Infopath with the consumer editions but you do with the corporate ones.
If there was one reason to upgrade it would have been for Infopath - that's probably the best reason to get Office 2k3 IMO. Why they refuse to bundle it in for Joe Consumer is beyond me (well, aside from the obvious one - greed).
