win xp pro key missing

hi - i have windows xp pro for a dell pc and want to install on my home built pc there is no activation except for to install on a dell machine ..

Q. how can i get a new activation key for my pc which has never had any os installed ?

do anyone supply these keys in uk ?

you need to buy a licence for each computer you will be using it on

Even if you have the key it won't work because once it's activated on one machine that's it.

is there anwhere else to get a key or do i have to go to microsoft to get it ?

That's about as blatant request for warez as it can get.
I got this free copy from my friends Dell, but it doesn't work!
Well, OK if I can't use it, where do I get a free key to go with the operating system I got from a download?

Dell uses the OEM version of Windows.. This means that you can't install it on any other machine except a Dell. Like the others siad, you must purchase a seperate licensed version. Good Luck!

That is one of the disadvantages of buying a Dell or Compaq. If you made your own PC, you would have a full version and if the PC blew up, you could use the license on a new machine.
