Install 98 on XP hard drive as second os?

I currently have windows xp pro on a 40gig / ntfs. I want to install windows 98se. I have all the stuff to do it, But I want to be able to keep xp on the hard drive too. I dunno if its true, but I heard if you have xp installed and as ntfs, you cant install 98. What about partitioning? What is that about? Could I do that? Im new to this, so any help would be appreciated

You would need a clean reinstall, or an aftermarket product like Partition Magic.

Windows 98 needs it's own partition, and FAT 32 file system.

Pretty good multiple OS install guides here:

I just opened a copy of partition magic 8.0, made a partition, named it, sized it. Restarted, and installed windows 98se via boot disk and disc. Worked like a charm, however, how do I get back into my xp partition, the option to view all operating systems on the "F8" page while booting isnt there. Is there any program by chance that will let me choose the next boot partition?
