Grub is a boot loader for Linux. It's very similar to LILO.

Try removing boot.ini... BUT make a backup and make sure you have your windows startup disks just in case it won't work without it... |

hello,
boot from whatever distro into emergency mode (if you di not make a boot floppy, if you ahve a boot floppy use that) then when in and then do a grub-install - you may need to specify partions to mount, but you should be able to use the /boot/grub/grub.conf file.

Oops. Mabye it wasn't the piece of cake that I thought it was. I just failed to try Windows until now. I can see and mount my primary master drive (c in linux just fine and boot to Linux, but I can't boot to the "DOS" option in GRUB and if I try to use a boot disk and switch to the c: drive it says it's not formatted. But I can still see it and its data fine in Linux???
Is it because the MBR is screwed? How do you fix this without reformatting the drive and losing all the info there? |
