| Multiboot winXP-98 not working.
Okay, I've got a system setup at school winXP on the C drive, 98 on the D drive (partitioned 20gig) and then I have a blank F drive (left over space) that I want to put linux on. I can load XP but not 98, in fact untill I edited boot.ini I didnt even an OS choice. I gusse my question is, what do I do? If I install linux will is auto detect both XP and 98 and put them into GRUB or Lilo? |

Well, you need some kind of utility to be able to boot win98, like boot magic or other commercial utility ...
The right thing was win98 on c: , then winXP on D: .. so winXP in that case will be able to boot both, giving an option menu to choose your OS each time you start up ...
I have no i dea if you can edit the boot.ini so it can recognize the win98 OS ..

Yeah KenKun is right, the theory to follow is to install the lastest OS, XP, last and the earlest, 98, first.
C:=98
D:=XP |

I dual boot winME & winXP on a dual partioned 60Gig & I have a 9gig(no OS,backup) disk also. I have winME as my c: with winXP as my E: and the 9Gig as d: The WinXP OS Loader works just fine for me in this configuration. |

Win98 can only boot from an active primary partition on the first HD (which is c: drive in your case), on the other hand winXP can boot from logical partition but the boot program of winXP should be installed in the active primary partition on the first HD...
That was the reason why you should`ve installed win98 on C: then winXP on D: drive ...
I will search around if i can find any free utility that can be used with winXp ..
