Lotus Notes: backspace, tab and arrow keys
We use Lotus Notes version 4.6 here at work. I have been slightly annoyed for a while in that the backspace key, arrow keys and tab key do not work when drafting e-mail messages. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on how to work around this issue on the client side software?

You probably have scroll lock on, the same thing happened to me since the Notes UI does not indicate this, the application just starts behaving awkwardly when you sue the arrow keys.
Arrrgghhh...

I never figured it out - but suspect that it had to do with java not playing nicely on a Windows box. We upgraded to Lotus Notes 7.0.1 and the problem seems to have gone away.

We still need to know
It doesn't matter if the answer takes four years, anyone who has had the same problem (like me) can now find the answer instantly. Which makes the bolu comment infinitely more helpful than that of Mr Jones (I know who I'd vote for as an MVP).

THANKS FOR THE VOTE. It's a tough job pointing out to new members that stubled upon old threads

I created an account here just to say THANK YOU! This annoying annoyance has been annoying me annoyingly for years! Now I know to disable the screen lock function when the arrow keys start giving me grief in Lotus Notes. What is the screen lock key even used for, anyway? I'm off to search for the answer to that question... Thanks again.
Edited to add... I'm from NH too. What's with all the New Hampshire people posting in this thread?

Like RJohnson75, I too created an account just to say thank you to Bolu. I had no choice but to work with Notus junk (such an outdated mailing software) as a contractor. My local help desk had no clue but to ask me to restart the system, which I didn't agree. I am glad I did some research, google found this post. My vote goes to this forum and to google that helped me to find this post.
