HELP - XP User Profile Accidentally Deleted!

Am I done for or is there a chance I can recover this stuff?

While "tweaking" my computer a friend of mine accidentally deleted my user profile...the next time I booted back up & went to check my e-mail through Outlook Express - every single thing I had in there before was completely wiped out....nothing in the inbox, all of the subfolders within the inbox - completely disappeared! I was told it was because my user profile was deleted and not because of anything else we did! (Along with it some other files on my computer went missing along with my "favourites" list for the internet)

We cannot find anything within Windows to suggest any of it is still in there, so the only thing I can think of is that it's completely gone, or it's sitting on my hard drive somewhere but not associated with anything & therefore not accessible unless I tried to recover it with some sort or file recovery program - but I wouldn't even know what to look for!

Am I done for, or do I have a chance of recovering some of this stuff?

HELP!

You could try some type of recovery software. The only one I know of is Stellar Phoenix but it costs $100 (for NTFS, $79 for FAT32).

Send a message via AIM to originel
i'm not very familiar with outlook, but i believe that it stores everything in your "my documents" folder, which is deleted along with the account. Check in c:\documents and settings and see if your username is still there

I've pretty much tried EVERYTHING that everyone's mentioned already - except a file recovery program....for some reason my system backup didn't work properly when I went to go do it....I don't think my computer was backing up correctly... .

I've talked to a few other people about it & it sounds like I'm going to be out of luck....unless I find someone who knows how to use a file recovery program & can walk me through it.... . Not likely... .
