Otherwise, best free programs all run on Linux  and Linux is FREE
but you were PROBABLY refering to Windows programs.....

I will second vass about Opera, the best browser out there IMO.
EasyCleaner. multipurpose utility for cleannig up files and registry entries and keeping your system all nice and tidy.
Aida32. Good system info tool.
Gaim- awesome IM client, better than Trillian IMO. clean user interface, supports all major protocols.
