Help with jo.sys
Hope someone can help! With the default jo.sys the default is to boot to the hard drive. What I want to do is switch them around so the booted media (cd,dvd) is selected. I downloaded Bart's freejo.exe but cannot figure out how to make the switch. There is a reference to using the timeframe value but no instructions on how to use it.

Welcome to the forum!
I am not familiar with jo.exe or what you are trying to do..but I did check out the instruction page http://www.nu2.nu/jo/
are you trying to make a special boot floppy?
or just trying to get menu options at the regular bootup?
did you see this?---> "Unzip the files from the download zip file into some directory on your harddisk. Start "freejo.exe" to configure jo.sys behaviour. Then copy the jo.sys file onto a Windows 98 or ME boot diskette and your done.
No need to add anything to your config.sys (like some users seem to think...)"
so evidently you arent actually using the "freejo" to run...you are only using it to configure the jo.exe file which is then what you run....

I've got freejo.exe running correctly and placing the newly created jo.sys correctly. The problem (or inconvienence) is that at startup jo.sys asks if you would like to startup to the hard disk or the media booted from. Default is hard disk, I would like the booted media to be default.
What I am doing is creating a bootable dvd (using easyboot) with a ghost image on it. Hope that clarifies the problem. If anyone has a better option I'm open to suggestions.
Thanx again.

download the file Hedit.exe. open your jo.sys file and just below where it says time remaining you will see a 1. click on it and change to 2. save. now your cd will boot to the cd. ignore the highlighting of hard drive it highlights option 1 by default but will boot from 2.
