| multiple XP users..spyware q?
I probably should know this but I dont, lol....
if there are two user accounts on an xp machine....and both have spyware/virus type issues.....how does that affect the spyware/virus removal?
say I install adaware on the machine....do I need to run it twice..once on each user account? (I dont think so but am not sure)
I am going to work on a comp tommorow..sounds like he has multiple spyware or virus issues....he has 2 accounts...both are infected, lol....
Thanks, JP

Just speculation... but I think you only need to run it once. AdAware will scan the file system and registry for entries. I don't think it distinguishes between the user profiles (on hard drive or in registry). Furthermore, most 'spyware' infects a computer globally (all users).

User profiles are only that, user profiles. If you run your software it should remove all traces of the program from your partition. If not you may want to try duck tape and bubble gum, it worcks wonders.

Dont forget to add paper clips and super glue to the list =)
Nehow, It should remove it from the whole PC... however if the user has file encryption enabled or whatever that Private Data Feature is, it might not be able to access that particular user's data from another account, thus some temporary internet files and crap might not be readable, but this is just speculation on my part, never actualy had a computer with multiple accounts and ran spyware apps |

That sounds fun doesn't it?
Sorry, I just had to be a little bit of a wise@aol.com. It's a really simple solution, you probably have the Win32.Blaster Worm or a variant of it. Go to the support section of Microsoft's web site, and you'll find a test you can do to find out if you really do. It's a command line function that will identify certain files. Once done delete them and run check disk with the /f function, under command line.

hehe...actually...I do have a cd that I made with ghost and a batch file that i use for restore cd's...basically it is a fat32 partition with nothing on it..you boot to the cd...the batch file starts..you type "y" then 'agree' and it then copies the blank partition over whatever is there....takes less than a second!! lol...so I can get them viruses and spywares before they see it coming! (I need to make an ntfs version though)
I do like the challenge of trying to clean a system...but when someone is paying me by the hour...and they have a seriously infested system...its cheaper for them if I just start over rather than waste 3 hrs THEN start over.... |
