Topic: A friend of my father-in-law's tried to change some default settings and royaly screwed everything up. Is there a way to set back to the install defaults otherthan running setup again? Thanks....

Restore Win98 to install defaults?

A friend of my father-in-law's tried to change some default settings and royaly screwed everything up. Is there a way to set back to the install defaults otherthan running setup again? Thanks.

Not really.
You could delete the registry, and have it restore from a backup, but I doubt that would work right. You'd still be left with all the ini and inf files, as well as dlls.
What settings did he change? Maybe it can be fixed.
You don't have to format the computer to install win98, just rename the windows directory and re-run setup.

Well, I shouldn't have to rename the directory either, just run setup overtop of the existing install.

just run install again from within windows

That won't reset any settings though, it will keep all the same drivers and the same registry.
