I would advise you to stick with AVG. I consider that the best one around. it has always worked for me! |

I've always used Norton System Works, never really had any virus trouble but Im careful about what I download and I never get email attachments or crap like that. Personally I think it all boils down to safe computing practices. No virus scanner in the world is completely fool proof. Kind of reminds me of that parody/saying... "Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idoits. So far, the Universe is winning."
Ive heard great things about AVG. I installed it on my sisters laptop once but the interface looked like something from windows 95, just looked ugly. But I guess for Anti-virus functionality is about all that counts.

avast has found plenty of boot sector viri for me. just pop in floppy and clcik to explore and there she is. The interface is very intuitive and I really like the constant memory resident scan -- no it doesn't drain my resources (12 mb not alot when have over 200 to play with, and that's if running at full power, 258k with just the resident memory engaged), and the Outlook xpress scan, p2p scan, email scan, instant msg scan - all active real time scanning - only when in use of course.
Hey I can't afford fancy car, house, nothing, so I end up with good looking freeware -- that about sums it up |

I like AVG mostly because it's simple. My opinion of Norton is that it thinks everything is a virus. MicroTrend Housecalls makes a good backup.
If I suspect something heavy, I just use Drive Image and reinstall a good image.
