Help cant get recovery disc to work right

Im running a windows 95 on a HP pavilion. It was running really bad so i tryed using my recovery disc and was gonna reformat and things would be ok BUT things went wrong really wrong No im screwed I need help !!! I tryed running the disc and it wiped out my harddrive and then stopped its says "CDR101: not ready reading drive M " it asked to abort ...retry....fail Well retry made the screen flicker and the the screen that say HP pavilion Recovery comes up and thigs look good it even does something ? retriving/extracting files and goes through up to 100 % but then gives me that CDR101: not reading drive M Also my cd-rom will not open when i push the button it only opens when i restart. Could it be something is not connected right ? or a bad disc ? or missing drivers for my CD-rom What should i do people. I know somneone here must understand. Give me some options is my cd-rom bad ? Would missing drivers not allow me to get it to open by the push button ? I really need this computer going asap I dont have money now to have it fixed so any help would be great. Thanks John Hardworkin_man38@yahoo.com or post here replys

    Need new CD-rom ?

You suggested replacing my CD-rom drive Whats a good price for one, I dont want anything fancy just something that will get me up and running again. Also could it be that my drivers are missing on the one i have ? if so how do i add them ? Thanks John

You should also look tomorrow at the Sunday ads for Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, Fry's, OfficeMax, OfficeDepot, etc. for CD-RW (cd-burner) deals. You can usually pick one up for $15-$20 (after mail-in-rebate), and it would be a nice, cheap upgrade. The blank disks are dirt cheap, and a great way to "back-up" your important files (documents, pictures, video clips, and mp3).

If you purchase online, either from a store or on Ebay, you need to factor in shipping. $8-$10 shipping can easily cancel-out an otherwise attractive offer...
