    Cant delete/change wallpaper background

This question is for a friend of mine. She downloaded a photo from the internet and set it has her desktop background. Now she cant seem to delete or change it. When she goes into desktop properties she has all the choices but when she chooses one it seems to try to change but defaults back to the original picture she is trying to get rid of. She deleted the folder the picture was downloaded to, and she emptied her recycle bin. Any ideas? Her system is win xp prof.

Don't know if this is your problem but you can try. Go ahead and right click going to properties, and then click the desktop tab. Under there go to customize desktop and go to the web tab. Make sure any web pages are unchecked and also make sure the box "Lock Desktop Items" is unchecked as well.

Try that out and good luck!

At least with Win2000, I know the current wallpaper is kept as a temp file in the temp folder.

    Go to \Documents and Settings\[user login name]\Local Settings\Temp

You can check out some possible fixes here. Go to W for wallpaper.

    Try turning off active desktop.

To disable the Active Desktop, right-click anywhere on the desktop and select Active Desktop, then View As Web Page from the pop-up menus.
