Access Denied

Recently I ran a program called Search & Destroy on my computer to get rid of spyware. I mistakenly removed the permission from my computer, and every time I try to click on or download something it says,"Access to the specified device, path or file is denied."

Please excuse me if the answer to this problem is already on this site, but I am not very computer literate. Please respond to this message as if you are speaking to a child.

maybe you have very limited access to the computer from the account you are using? Are you on an administrator account, or what? thats mainly what i can think of, unless you have a really nasty virus, but i wouldnt jump to conclusions

How do you know you mistakenly removed permissions, or are you just assuming it's something you did? What is your Operating System?

On Spybot S&D there is a recovery tab you can use to restore registry entries that were deleted. It even says "use this if after running S&D, you experience problems", or something like that. Have you tried running that option to restore the registry? Also, depending on OS, you can use System Restore option to get your computer back to a previous state (prior to the problem you are experiencing.) Also, you can do a repair install (again, depending on the OS), which reinstalls all Windows files that get mucked-up without causing you to lose data/files.

So, I guess, a little more info would help.
