| Unable to load "file.ext" when installing Windows 2000 pro
I am trying to install Win2k pro on a new PC...
Soyo K7VME MB
WD HDD
AMD Athlon XP 2100
512MB DDR
I have tried loading several times, the 4 boot disks work fine then it tries to copy files for installation and it goes good until 46%, then I start getting the errors listed below:
"Windows could not load"
mode_w.chm
modem.hlp
modem.sys
modemcsa.inf
modemui.dll
mofcomp.exe
mofd.dll
monitor.inf
monitor4.inf
monitor5.inf
monitor7.inf
monitor8.inf
monitor9.inf
moricons.dll
mountvol.exe
mouse.chm
mp_w.chm
mpg4ds32.ax
mpg2splt.ax
mplayer2.hlp
mpr.dll
mprapi.dll
mprddm.dll
mprdim.dll
mprui.dll
Now if I just hit esc through all of them, and eventually it picks up and goes again.
I tried hitting enter a few times but got the same message over and over again.
Ok so after hitting esc through everything it asked me to set date and time which I did then it said "mmsys.cpl could not be found" then I hit ok on that and it said this "Windows could not load the installer for :
net
media
netclient
netservice
nettrans
infrared
I clicked ok on all of those and it gave me this message:
The dynamic Library.... could not be found and restarted the puter, Sorry couldn't give actual message it restarted on me too quickly.
Ok what I have done:
Loaded Win 98se worked fine
then tried to load Win2k as an upgrade same problems as above
I just downloaded the new bios flash to see if that will help any, so I'm going to try that in a bit.
I also read on another thread, that someone "put a heavy object on the enter key so it would continue to try to load them and finally it worked" Any other suggestions or help would be much help.
Thanks |

Sounds like it's just bad media.
Why are you using boot floppys? Can you not boot from the CD?

Umm Win2k has 4 boot disks to get teh process started, unless you are upgrading from a previous version of Windows...I tried both ways... |

yeah, sounds like either scratched dirty disk. Look closely cause sometimes there's a small speck of something stuck to the disk that's causing read errors, actually had this happen a few times within the last few months. |

The 4 boot disks are really just to be used if you don't have a PC that can boot from the CD-ROM drive.
Is your Win2K disk a copy or the original? |
