| Taskman Processes.....
I've noticed my computer has slowed down a bit. I checked Task Manager and I currently have 29 Processes running and my page file usage is staedy at 128 MB.
Do I have too many processes running ?
- Win XP Pro (SP1)
- P4 2.8 Ghz
- 512 Mb DDR http://www.techimo.com/forum/attachm...id=11841&stc=1

You should go to: RUN- Type: Msconfig-start up tab- uncheck everything you don't need to load on the startup. That should help you. |

That's probably about right. I'm running around 20 to 25 processes myself and it's all stuff I need. AV, firewall and all the standard Windows processes. |

well what u can do is go to http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
he has a long list of the XP services that u need and the ones you dont need
they are shown in columns..I follow the "safe" column except I leave system restore on......and I think now you need to leave BITS on to do the new windows update
you turn em on and off by running "services.msc" and each service is listed etc

I normally have around 30-35 proccesses so nothing to be alarmed about.
Not sure where the firefox reference came in, but yes it does block them automatically, however there is a button you can press if it blocks a popup that you wanted (which rarely ever happens, but it can.) I've used firefox since version 0.6 and I've only had a handful of instances (maybe 10-20?) where the popup blocker hasnt worked flawlessly. |

its always nice to have a start point
