After loading setup of Windows 2000 it gets corrupted.........please help me!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

My question is: I'm trying to install Windows 2000 by itself using 4 setup disks.

I was able to load setup......but when I try to load Windows 2000 CD it gets corrupted along the way. I also tried changing the BIOS by making the CD bootable (boot from CD) still won't work.

In addition it always prompts me: "this program won't run on dos mode"

I'd like to do this way so I won't rely too much on other OS (Windows 95, 9x, etc.).

My software is a full version, but for some reason my software only loads when there is OS loaded already (except dos though).

Wen't to bootdisk.com website, tried the CD of the following to get the 4 setup disks: evaluation of windows 2000 and windows 2000 full version. None of them work.....IT GETS CORRUPTED ALL THE TIME.

I'm really running of options already if somebody reads this please reply.

Thanks in advance

I have a boot disk which has a tool called hdclear.exe. Really kills your hard drive. I also did that but once I place the W2k CD, it gets corrupted.

Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to get input from others to see if they have other suggestions. Good website though.....surely add this one to my favorites.

If his is a new build, you may have memory issues.

If you are getting blue screens, what do they say (briefly)

And in Win2K there is no dos support.

Also, you should just boot from the CD in Win2K and install that way after you do a disk wipe and let Win2K format the drive. If it won't work this way, you have other problems and you need to give us a little history.

BTW, Welcome to Techimo!

i use MaxPow at the maxtor web site.http://www.maxtor.com/portal/site/Ma...&downloadID=22
Maxtor.com - ATA Hard Drives. Then, take out anything in the computer you don't need...1 stick of ram, 1 hd, video card only if needed. strip it down as far as you can. then try installing the os. every once in a long long long while i'll hear of a computer that won't load an os because of an hd or something....could be a bad ram chip too...idk. that is wierd though...i could never figure out why it did that on any of the other machines.....if you figure it out...let us know.
