SP2 cannot find the EULA!!!

I need to install windows xpSP2 patch from a hard drive partition. Here is how I currently have it set up.

C:\ -> Location to install windows xpSP2 patch(fat32) 20gb

D:\ -> Location to install windows xpSP2 from (fat32) 20 gb

I boot up using a windows 98 boot disk, change to drive D:\i386 and run winnt

Setup copies files to drive C: ($WIN_NT$.~BT, $WIN_NT.~LS....)

I reboot and setup continues until the screen where it says:

"Setup cannot find the End-User License Agreement (EULA). Setup will not continue"

I have read a lot about this problem and can't figure it out. Hopefully its something easy that I missed somewhere.

My Xp is PRo with SP1

Thanks

Hey!

i have an idea

- Copy the files of the cd to another PC
- Find out were the EULA.txt is normaly located
- Make your own EULA.txt
- Write the files WITH the fake EULA.txt to a blank CD

Cool

Hello guys...

The http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...3&Product=winxp idea is to completly format my drive which I need to avoid since I have tons of complicated software installed and configured. It could take days to reinstall.

I cannot install SP2 from WIndows because it gave me an error which was "program too large for memory" I reseached the error and what happens is you cannot install the new SP2 patch if your machine have installed the previous SP2 beta patch. Once I tried to uninstalled it fail to do that. I tried then followed the instruction from MS article 875350 in which tells you to remove the SP2 beta from the system restore process and making changes in the registry.... I followed but it did not removed it! So what I did is I expanded the SP2 executable and I copied the i386 into my c drive, restarded in dos and run it.... It was going golden until the EULA error!!!!

So now I am going to try to find the eula... I did not realized it was a txt file!!!

I keep you posted, meanwhile, please post your ideas,

Many thanks an have a great Columbus day.... Me? I am going to work, I be back tonite

Butcher.... I checked it out it turns out that my c drive is full of EULA.txt, it turns out that every MS patch comes with a EULA.txt file. Each one has a distintive ending at the end which tells you from what patch did it come from. THe SP2 EULA.txt file is there!!!!! I used cmd and open the file and it reads just fine!!!! no corruption at all.... I am getting really crazy here

There have to be a silly thing making this install so difficult!

hopefuly I will not lose all my hair by the time I am done here
