hmmmm, I'm not familiar with that program. Is that similiar to a low level format ?
Could this program damage my hard drive ? What about uninstalling Windows?

Yes, it's a LLF. I've used it a hundred times, with no problems. It will wipe your HDD back to near-new condition. It'll be like installing an OS on a newly installed HDD.

I'd perform a full LLF, if you have the option. I don't use the Powermax utility, so not completely familiar. An 80 gig could take an hour or two, but worth it., IMO.

Well, I'm back up and running with my licensed version of XP that LLF took more like 4 hours but everything is fine now.

Glad to hear it. And yes, sometimes those LLFs take more time...

You may want to check this site out for services configuration. Don't be put off by the mullet; he knows his stuff!
