    Does anyone remember ->

    A while back on the DC Forum there was a thread about some software that let you see the desktop on other boxes on your network.Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I want to add more boxes without the use of monitor's and would like to be able to check up UD running on them,it's the only thing they will really be used for right now and I just leave them on 24/7.Any idea's would be great. I won't need to use the KB or mouse and at this time I'm waiting to get a 8 port KVM.

    Yep, I gotcha. It's called VNC and is great! A bit fiddly to setup, but once running is so cool!

    Find it here

    BTW, it would have been better to post this in the DC forum.

    VNC is a great program and what's even better it is totally free. I use it from home to my machine at work, even through our corporate firewalls. Never failed me yet.

    hey awwall, I suppose you need a static IP address for your net connection to do that from work? Even if I get ASDL it'll be dynamic (they boot you off after 18 hours). Don't suppose there is a way around that?

    Mick, the machines at work are static, all talk thru a T1,T3 system. My machine here (home) is on a cable modem, tied thru a 4 port Linksys router. VNC seems to have no problems with this configuration. In fact, I routinely connect to 3 different machines, besides my own at work. 2 of the three are at a location about 50 miles from my machine at work. Total corporate count is around 25,000 machines and so I habe been told, are all static.

    Thanks awwall. In a way I think you answered my question. I assume your home (cable) account has a static IP. My home one is dynamic, and I want to go that way (home from work) to monitor my cows at home. I'd have to check the IP every day before I left - that would be a real pain! Work won't run UD.
