Installing VB.NET problems **FIXED**
I am running XP Pro with SP2. When I put the VB.NET disk in this window pops up:
I then click on the link which opens this:
Which prompts me for the Pre-Req disk which I put in and point the browse to:
At this point I push ok and both windows close. Nothing else happens. These are original disks and I have looked through google and MS's KB with no success.
Any Ideas?

Do you have the .net framework update from windows update. That is all I can think if.

Besdies the.NET framework idea, do you have any sort of unique securities setup? Are you doing this under an account with admin privileges? The prompts in that Installshield prompt look like install script... trying to get data from the internet. Maybe try with the firewall disabled?

I have the .net framework installed through windows update. I am also running Norton System Works 2005 Premier which I did disable while trying this the second time. I'm behind a linksys router but also have windows FW active due to SP2. I'll try disabling the firewall and norton again.
Thanks

Solution!
I disabled all firewalls, antivirus, and even put my puter in the DMZ with no success. Here's how I did get it to work however:
I explored the pre-req disk and ran this program:
Which showed this popup:
Choosing "NO" yields a screen telling me that Setup and J# was going to be installed. After selecting install these components it showed this screen:

Re-inserting the VB.net 1 disk now shows this:
Hope this helps others and thanks for you suggestions.

Incog,
Nice job and glad you posted back with the solution. These kinds of things can be a real mystery. We had all kinds of problems about two years ago, trying to get the Oracle Client (was prob ORacle 7 or 6, back then) installed on an IBM workstation that used a certain model of Pentium-4 processor... the auto install would bomb and bomb... eventually Oracle put out a manual install workaround."The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; It's just that they know so much that isn't so." -- Ronald Reagan
