Need Help with Virus & Spyware..FAST!

Help,

working on a friend XP Home system that is inundated with viruses and spyware....got rid of most of it but the pesty ones have diabled his restore utility, searches, and some of his system folders that are holding the malicous files. I think the files are:

alchemy.exe, polm.exe, poltt.exe, and polall1b.exe

I have tried to browse to them in win explorer and tried to do a search for them from the search utility but both are disabled and can't get to them to delet the files.....Anyone out there know what to do? Don't really want to fdisk it and reinstall win xp unless we absolutely have to.....anyone know of where I can find removal tools or specific info on these?

Just to let everyone know:

I ran AVG which kept finding 3 viruses but couldn't remove them....
ran Norton AV which didn't find any
AdAware which found a few but couldn't remove all of the spyware....
Spybot which found some more but couldn't remove 3 of the spywares
And SpySweeper which cleaned up the remaining 3 spywares...

All together there were 256 spyware and 30 some viruses.....

All removed without a reisntall...except one that is lurking but is healed each time by AVG....took about 5 hours....a reinstall wpuld have been quicker of course but I haven;t been beat yet so it was more of a challenge to remove them!

Just out of curiousity, did you turn off system restore prior to trying to clean this thing up?

when you turn off system restore it deletes all the system restore files..if u don't do this..then the virus stays nice and protected in the system restore files and a little while after getting rid of the existing ones the one in the system restore file just rinstalls itself...can't win.
