what is so special about it?
is it actually any different from normal windows xp?

its based around the NT kernel so it will take advantage of large amounts of memory

and yes it will support 64 bit

My friend got it and tried installing it on his machine. Application response time was amazingly faster, but non-microsoft 64bit programs wouldnt run correctly. Steam would crash right after loading, Norton's wouldnt install, and many various other programs not functioning forced him to reformat and go back to standard 32bit XP. I'll admit though, once they get all the bugs worked out, its going to be sweet, cause it was so fast.

most 32 bit apps run fine.

av apps are noteable exceptions fiewalls too.

macafee virusscn enterprise 8.0 works very nicely with xp 64.

90 day trial here.

avast av pro is said to work as well.

and..................bitdefender pro...............i think.


i've run far cry, and halo no probs on xp 64............all my other core apps run fine, photoshop, nero ultra, windvd..........wizip. winrar adaware............adobe reader.........msoffice........

couldn't get doom 3 installed and running..............or moh..............seem to remember cod runnin ok.......
