    New notebook: Malicious Script?

My friend bought a new notebook (NEC) somewhere about 3 weeks ago. To make the story short, when everytime she log into Windows XP, she recieves a message from Norton Anti-Virus that titled "Malicious Script" on top of it.

I can't quite remember how exactly, but it shows the location of the script and the name of the script. You have 4 options and the first option is recommended, "Stop this script from operating"...something like that. When clicking OK, everything turns back to normal. Until when the notebook reboot, the "Malicious Script" message appears again. As if nothing is working.

What IS Malicious Script anyway? And how a new notebook, supposely new installment, experience that kind of message problem.

My thought was: Was it once a 2nd hand notebook or a re-condition?

Thanks for your help and thoughts as well

maybe norton is being over-zealous and wrongly identifying the script as malicious?
