| Unknown Recovery disk set
I have a set of 15 cdrs that have a "disaster Backup" on them. I have since forgotten what program I used to back it up with (and hence, restore), and the backup was a year old and on my wifes computer. The only hint I have is the one text file visible on the disks. This text file says:
====================
Disaster Recovery CD
====================
This is a disaster recovery CD.
Except for this file the contents of this disc must be
accessed using your disaster recovery software.
Does anyone recognize this! Please help! |

do you have a copy of nero burning rom? if so, go start>nero>nero toolkit>nero info tool.
select the drive one of the discs is in using the drop down box, and select the disc tab. this will show you a publisher and application field. if these are set, then you should see the application used to create the cd. |

If you just right click the backup file and goto properties it may have what program made it on one of the tabs. |

I can't right click the backup file itself because It a custom format and not visible. The only windows or dos visible file it the text file and it doesn't have any info. Nero info doesn't tells anything useful.. Viewing the absolute sectors doesn't give a clue either. Whatever proggie it is ... It sure is stupid ... but I need this data.. |

I had this problem, and I just solved it. The backup software is Backup MyPC by Stomp. It's still available. |

what happens when you go to start-->run-->type cmd-->enter-->type cd and the drive letter of the cd player-->type dir-->enter
Maybe DOS-mode can tell us a little something about the .XXX file extention.
I would think that after making a set of 15 cd's for backup, you would have some inkling of the program that you used to make them. ie...Norton Ghost, Acronis True Image, Backup MyPC etc...
