my stand by option is greyed out when i click on turn off computer

good morning all

i just reloaded windows xp on a hp pavilion ze5170 laptop. when i click on the turn off computer option, the stand by option is greyed out. Where or how can i enable this feature?

check the power options in Control Panels and see if the feature is enabled.

already did that..there are no options for standy by only for sceme, how the hd acts when you close the lid and monitor stuff..

normally when u close the laptop screen it goes into standby... did u try that?

Video drivers probably are not loaded... Assuming the OP is still having issues
