No extended memory after reinstall under VDMS
I need a little help on this one. I've tried VDMS forums, with no answer yet, but everytime I load in old dos games under VDMS on my Dell computer, it says no extended memory detected, when it worked fine before I had to do a format, I think I could be starting my shell wrong or something, or if anyone knows Bill Gates, please tell him over coffee to bring back dos! Thanks

what is VDMS? lol
Tell us what operating system you have...is it XP?
There are "compatability modes" etc...check this article http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...appcompat.mspx
if you say it worked before, then something probably is just set wrong..or possibly there is some software you didnt reinstall...
did you reinstall java machine? if not could that be it?

reply to no extended memory
Yes, I have XP on this computer. I also have a Microsoft sound card, so that is why I tried VDMS, since it is a soundblaster emulator. Games such as Dark Forces ran fine although a little slow before, but I think my main problem is a line under 'mem' in dos com.exe and command.exe window that says 0 contiguous extended memory. I have also checked this out with Dell, they say things are fine if everything else works ok. We even tried a new hard drive and motherboard. I still just get an inactive window when I try to start Flight Simulator 5.1, which I use as a base to load in converted files to Flight Simulator 98.
