MS Exchange Server Setup

I've installed MS 2000 Advanced Server SP3 but it doesn't seem to come equipped with an e-mail server. I Installed Exchange 5.5. but when I go to Administrator Tools for Exchange and browses for a server...it cannot find one. I'm totally confused. Can anybody tell me the first step I should take to setup an e-mail server once I have installed MS Exchange?

No Windows Server does not come with an Email server, it comes with an SMTP relay server, but those two are quite different.

To setup MS Exchange I'd highly suggest doing some reading, as Exchange is quite complex.

Bottom line, you'll have to setup an Internet Mail Connector to accept/send SMTP traffic.

Vass...sorry to hear that this will be complex. I am searching for documentation now.
Do I still have to setup an Internet Mail Connector if all I plan to do is setup mail locally within my lab domain?
