Hey Techimo again, havent been around in awhile, but i NOW have a question. I just recently ordered the i9300 and i opted for the windows XP PRO to be installed but when i got the laptop, it DID NOT come with the original OS cd or a CD of all the Drivers, this was kind of depressing. So i saw a slip of paper in there and it asked that i make the recovery CD or go online and request the CD's but i've looked all over their site and i cant find anywhere where i can request a OS cd and a Driver CD. I mean i did pay for it and i think i should get it. Has anyone been though this before and requested OS/Driver CD's? and if you have, then how?
Thanks,
aznlurkerz

NO longer. Dell is following other companies lead in reducing the cost by leaving out important parts like a "xp pro installation cd".
I honestly think you will have to call dell up and rant at them to get them to send you an installation CD.

Yeah I'd try calling them too. I've foud working through their website a pain, and if you get a decent rep when you call, things usually go pretty smoothly.

You have three options:
1. Use the PC Restore utility, which restores the hard drive image exactly as it was originally shipped,
2. Use the Dell OS Recovery CD Creation utility, which allows you to burn a copy of the OS disc,
3. Call customer service and request an OS disc.
The procedures are explained in detail in this Dell KB article: http://support.dell.com/support/topi...en&s=dhs&cs=19 |

Its just harsh, we PAY for it but we dont even get the actual CD, pretty lame and Dell going that far just to cut COSTs on their behalf. I dont think its really THAT much. |
