| XP and active X security settings?
how does one adjust active x settings in XP
here is the issue....
a friend is getting the red x when trying to listen to an online radio show (the radio show used to play no problem)
how can she allow actixe X controls on THAT ONE SITE without weakening her overall security
she had it set on medium high...and she tried it two notches lower but it still didnt work...so I told her to put it back on medium high
what does she need to do to allow the active x control on that site??
btw she does have SP2
Thanks, JP

Try adding the site to "Trusted sites" in IE properties (right Click the IE icon and click properties). Set the security settings for trusted sites to "Medium", click on the "Custom Level" button and enable ActiveX controls. (there are five ActiveX options. Just enable them all) Make sure you enable ActiveX while you have "Trusted Sites" highlighted. |

It does not seem like an ActiveX error in that case, Does her firewall allow Windows Media Player to access the internet. If that prog is blocked then it will not work. I dont know how the website was configured, but if they changed the prog to listen (i.e. for real player to media player) then that could be the prob. Currently it says Media Player is required. |

media player works fine
I think she is just seeing the red X on the site....thats hwat made me think it was active x related
and she had the firewall off....
I dunno...its weird
she is going to try it again tomorrow after rebooting to see if any changes we did helped
thanks, JP |
