using xcopy in dos

hi,
booting with a startup disk:
whats the long dos command to copy all files, directories, and sub directories in dos? dont you have to have xcopy on the bootdisk for xcopy to work? if so i dont think xcopy comes on a win98 boot disk.

i just want to copy all files and folder off a cd to a directory. thanx

xcopy is in the windows\command directory
it is NOT on a windows startup disk by default.
copy the xcopy file, the xcopy32 file and one other xcopy.(something) file. 3 total files needed.

then at the command prompt type xcopy [source] [dest] /s(coppies subdirectories) /e(coppies empty directories)

that should do it!

In XP xcopy.exe is in windows\system32.

According to help and ntcmds.chm it is available, in cmd.exe at least...

If you're using a 98 boot disk you'll need the 98 version of xcopy.
