linux:downgrading to woody
thats it!!!!!!! !i've had enough with this, been fixing problems almost everday, the last one was having mixed up library files that dont allow me to even compile my kernel!! ARGH!!!!!!! .... i've lost more hair actually! gonna back up my system today, and try to reinstall woody again, but just to refresh my memory, suppose i don't have enough space to back up , and i want to mount my dad's hardisk, i would type
dmesg | grep hd
that would shows me what hardisks i need to mount
and in order to mount a windows hardisk,
i would
mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /mnt/c <-- which is an example
i thought about backing up my home directory and /etc/
but i would be happy to welcome any suggestions
so feel free, i will clean my home directory today, and do the dirty work tomorrow, so atleast i'd have time to read ur suggestions! =)
wish me luck.... and yeah, fixing problems in sid, really made me understand whats going on in linux, but surely guys, u don't wanna use it , it makes u go NUTTSSSS!!!!!!

ah - you are running sid.
woody was pretty easy for me, i just moved my firewall box to it about a week or so ago.
yea - that is a good way to mount the ms windows partition. I always back up /home and /etc too. from there i just do my mkfs.ext2, perhaps a tunefs for ext3 and i am up and running.Odds are very good there are several spelling mistakes in this post.

I prefer not to be stopped in the street just because someone decided my clothes were "wrong" or my hair was "too long". I do understand and partly agree with your point, but this was too much, IMO.
Do you think this was a legitimate...
