| How do I make the background of desktop icon text transparent?
I'm not sure what happened, but for some reason my icon text now has a border around it. It's basically the color of the solid background, in my case black. I have always had no border so that the text looks like it is written right on the background. When I go into CONTROL PANEL -> PERFOMANCE AND MAINTENANCE -> SYSTEM. Then under the ADVANCE tab I go into the PERFORMANCE section, and chose SETTINGS, and then under the VISUAL EFFECTS tab. Under here I have "Custom' chosen, and then I have everything checked in the options below it. This would include the option of "use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop" But my border is still there, and I have also tried it with this option unchecked as well, but did not work. I have also restarted my computer each time I made a change, but that did nothing as well. Can anyone help me on this. TIA.
BTW, I am running WindowsXP pro.

mine works well, i also have custom adjustments..
but if you like to try checking the adjust for best appearance to be sure that everything is really checked.
or if you can, try searching for a tweaking tool to set your settings. |

Try this:
First make sure the drop shadows button is checked. Then right-click on your desktop and go to 'Arrange Icons By>' You will probably find 'Lock Web Items on Desktop' checked. Uncheck it and wait for the magic, it will take a sec.
