| Windows XP Installation Help
Well ok heres my problem, its a friends computer and its not my first time installing Windows XP. Well ok at first it takes a very long time for the computer to read the Detect the Drives:
Master : WD 80GB IDE
Slave : None
Secondary Master : Sony DVD Rom
Secondaary Slave: Lite on CD-Burner -
Is there anythign wrong up there thats making it boot slow.
Also i install Windows and everything. Setup Windows enter the cD-Key everything installs its fine. Then when i go into boot. Again it takes slow for the Detecting then it gets to this area where it syas building DMI Pool or something like that then, it tells me to boot from cd: well I leave the cd and it goes back to where You partition the drive, it does not go into Windows itself.
Whats The problem here?
TIA
Nick |

unplug all but the hard drive and the one master optical dive...
Make sure that the jumper is set correctly on the hard drive. |

there do seem to be several issues that can cause the dmi pool message........maybe the stuff at that link will help.
after you complete windows installation.remove the cd and any floppies then reboot. |

one possible error might be that the cd-burner needs to be master and and dvd drive slave, unless the dvd drive is a burner...
try it out, disconnect any network or usb connections and when you see the bios, just to check things out, make sure the first device its boots from the hdd not cd or lan or usb.
that will speep up the time from bios to windows loading. if your installing windows I guess reformat the entire drive and are u using legal or cracked windows?
cause some cracked versions might not work at all on some comps... |
