Looking for a database application

A customer of mine needs a program that will store data of who ordered what parts and ect. Like when you go into any hardware store or Napa place they have these programs that they type into like a cash register. He needs somthing like that and I dont know what to look for. Never needed one. He has a Automotive Business if that helps any. Anyone got any ideas?

tell him to call these people up: http://www.intuit.com. They probably have the product he is looking for.
Other than that, i'd use ms access.
