Cannot Delete Partition :/

I used PartitionMagic 8.0 to create the new partition, messed around figured I made a mistake. Now I cannot delete it. Well, I can delete it, but I lose all of that space (which is unacceptable). The merge feature is not working. The computer will restart then say Error lost clusters and WinXP (NTFS) will start up again and nothing has changed. Any ideas? What is this resize feature? Should I delete the new partition and "resize" my primary to its original capacity? I'd try it but I think I've screwed things up enough.

I defragmented the primary partition and ran CHKDSK to check for errors and scan to attempt to recover bad sectors... and then teh merge worked :/

Thanks for the suggestion anyway, Paul
