Oh help, changed my second drive, now XP will not boot

I swapped my old D: drive with a new drive. Went from a IDE 133 to Sata.

I ghosted the old drive to the new drive to transfer my files.

Changed my bios to reflect the new boot order.

XP now hangs with nothing but a blank screen ( I have the startup screen disabled).

I can boot to safe mode, so the C: is still fine.

I went into device manager and removed all the drives and rebooted. Still hangs.

It hangs even with just one drive connected.

My main drive is NTFS, the second is Fat32.

    I'm running WinXP Home, SP2

The first drive is Sata, so it has the drivers.
This was a working install, but I wanted to replace the old IDE drive with a new SATA.

I messed around with bootcfg, now have two boot options. I'm about to start from scratch, but I'd like to fix this.

I ghosted my main drive this morning, so I could restore all the old hardware and software and try again.

XP does not seem to be very understanding about hardware changes. W98 let you swap drives around all day, so long as the boot drive stayed the same drive letter.

This is twice now that I have screwed up XP by moving drives.

I gave up trying to fix, now starting over.

I now can not get the Nivida chipset drivers installed properly, seems something has changed and now will not work.

hardware is all the same except for the hard drive swap.

New problem, I'll start a new thread.
