| Weirdness with XP Home and Home Network
Hey guys,
The problem is that I've got a network set-up at my house between a Dell Desktop, a Gateway Laptop, and an Acer laptop.
Now I can acces information from the Dell-Gateway, Gateway-Dell, Acer-Dell, and Acer-Gateway, but none can access the Acer because it pops up with a window I have to put a password into, and I checked, and I' havent got any passwords on it, and theirs only one account on it.
Second, on the Acer laptop, everytime I start'er up, it brings me to the login screen, where you have to click the username, and then it logs you in, how do you get rid of that since there is only one user account? |

What OS is on each system?
What kind of network do you have setup?
Are you using a router or a hub/switch? |

XP Home is set-up on each.
Kind of network, I used the Windows network setup wizard thingy.
And I have it setup Modem->D-link wireless router->cable to dell desktop, then laptops are wireless.... |

my suggestion go and get yourself a linksys gateway, dlink's are notorious for over heating and loosing their ip addy...
right click on the files you goto properties goto network tab put put a check mark in the share the file on the network, left click on network then every pc on that network should be able to see that hard drive or file under my network places...
you may need to create account permissions to allow peeps to access the acer on the network if what i 1st suggested doesn't work... |
