norton antivirus
i appreciate the answers. I am trying to install NAnti.. and the same crap keeps coming up where an error is reached sometime in the installing process. Now when i put the cd in the drive the promp comes up to choose install, but then nothing else, i am no longer allowed to scan, choose anything. It seems that the program is not being allowed to install on the computer ????
any suggestions ??

Is there a reason you're using Norton?
Avast is free and uses less resources. It's every it as good as Norton.

And AVG and Antivir. Free and bothgood and can run at the same time.

running two anti viri at the same time is a waste of system resources.
What verison of norton are you trying to run and what os are you running?

do sysopt memebers really have that bad of a viri problem where they need to run two programs?
Alittle common sense and knowledge and you wont have to bog a system down.

Another Norton thread...Norton sucks, end of story.
Download Avast or AVG, both free and better than Norton.

Uninstall it, reboot, and install it again, see if that helps.

Norton has a software tool available to try and correct installations that have gone bad. This is a far to common occurence. Look around on their website. What version are you working with? 2003, 2004, 2005 ? Don't expect any tech support from Norton, they don't provide any.
I'm with all the other members try Avast! or AVG. Nobody here uses Norton.“Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.”

Did you uncompress the suse file before copying it to the cd or just copy the single file?
Is your bios set to boot from cd rom?

suse 10.0
i just downloaded the boot image, unless it automatically compressed, which i doubt, then i just downloaded it, the boot.iso file is what i have, i am a newbie so you will have to be fluent in "ignorant" or dumb things down... i also am unsure what it means when i have to record the ip address and path of repository and where would i find this ???

you burn the iso to a cd using nero or another cd burning program.

Norton killed my last PC
Well, as the title suggests, Norton murdered my last PC;
I still have it, for no real reason other than to remind me never to use Norton again. My system got so bogged down it eventually gave up on me. Stupid cruddy Win 2K. Still, I got a new one for £20 so I'm all happy. Seriously guys, come to a UK computer fair for good cheap stuff;
Intel P4 1.95 Ghz
512 MB DDR RAM
ATI RADEON 9600 128 Mb
50 Gb HDD
DVD ROM and DVD RW drives
Win XP Pro SP2
All for £20 just cuz the guy got a new PC!!
